If you are just getting started on Medium, we don’t blame you for not wanting to write. There is so much content on this platform and it can be difficult to know where to start. The truth is, there are no excuses for why you shouldn’t be writing about your view of the world and sharing your experiences with others.

Instead of feeling guilty about your lack of activity on Medium, spend some time reading what other successful writers have written in the past. You will notice a common theme: everyone makes mistakes when they are first trying to get their work out there, but with perseverance and patience a good piece of writing can eventually take shape. You will also notice the best pieces stand the test of time and are able to evolve with time.

Whether you have an idea, or none at all, here is a list of 10 excuses not to be writing on Medium.

1. I don’t feel qualified to write about this subject matter.

The truth is, most of us feel the same way. Even the most prolific writers on Medium have said they often feel unqualified to write about a specific topic. This is why it is so important to be honest with yourself. Even if you are not an expert in a specific field or topic, you still have something valuable to add. All it takes is practice and persistence to get your voice heard.
